About Me
As you probably have figured out, my name is Jaclyn Gilbertson, preferably shortened to Jacky. I’m a lady-type residing in Vancouver, Canada, and I spend most of my time either drawing or designing. If I’m not doing that, I’m usually in pursuit of a cat to snuggle.
In addition to my love of drawing, I have been a bit of a technology fanatic since the ripe old age of 12, when I created my first website (for a comic I drew that was being published locally). From that, I developed an almost obsessive curiosity of web mechanics, which lead me to develop a new love for the principles of design while creating better websites. So after graduating from high school in 2005, I decided to pursue both of my passions, and enrolled in the Visual Communications program at the Alberta College of Art + Design.
Now, armed with my shiny new Bachelor of Design, I have relocated to Vancouver to pursue gainful employment doing something I love.
My work shows my personality: I am a bit of a walking contradiction. I like to dress in all the brightest colours of the rainbow, but love to watch horror movies. I collect both ghost stories and cute knick-knacks. I love to balance these two halves in my work, to satiate my desire to draw both the annoyingly adorable and the disturbingly dark.
Besides that, I enjoys the absurd things in life; bizarre foreign candy, quirky horror movies, ridiculous cats, new-fangled kitchen gadgets and video games
